Product information

For bonding Styropor® you need something special. Pattex Special Adhesive Styropor® not only provides the desired adhesive strength. It is also safe and very easy to use. And it leaves no traces after curing.

Product properties:

• for many rigid foams
• fast curing and waterproof
• resistant to deformation and aging
• cures white

Fields of application:

• rigid polystyrene foam (Styropor®, Exporit®, Styrofoam®, Poresta®, etc.)
• also in combination with wood, ceramics, paper, textiles, metals, plaster and many plastics
• ideal for bonding photos
• Not suitable for PP, PE and PTFE (e.g. Teflon).

Tips & Tricks:

If you use a spatula or brush to apply Pattex Special Adhesive Styrofoam® to surfaces, clean your tools immediately after use. It is best to use solvents such as paint thinner or benzene. This will allow you to use your tools again. After all, a clean work area is a happy work area.

Application:

• Pattex Special Adhesive Styrofoam on both bonding surfaces - especially on the edge zones - with a fine toothed spatula or brush, apply well evenly. Do not dilute the adhesive
• Before joining the surfaces, the solvent must flash off evenly for approx. 5 - 10 minutes (at 18 - 25°C).
• After flash-off, there must be closed, visible adhesive films on the surfaces to be bonded. Large-pored or absorbent surfaces may have to be coated several times. The deaerated adhesive film must be dry to the touch before joining. The film must not stick or pull threads when touched with the finger.
• The two parts must be carefully placed together with an exact fit, as it is no longer possible to correct the fit once the two adhesive films have touched. The parts are then pressed together briefly - but extremely forcefully. The decisive factor for the final strength of the bond is not the duration of the pressing pressure, but the level of the pressing pressure. To avoid air pockets, the pressure should be applied from the center. Press on carefully in the edge area and at the edges.
