Inexpensive molds from Formaform:

Formaform is a synthetic, rubbery molding compound that is melted like wax in a water bath on the hot hotplate, after which it is immediately ready for molding. For this purpose, the liquid molding material is poured directly onto the model placed in a mold casting box, where it immediately runs evenly, thus creating the desired shape. Just 30 to 40 minutes later, the molding compound has cooled and can be removed from the model as a finished mold. However, it must then harden for another 1 - 2 hours before it can be used for molding. Formaform is a universal molding compound with unique application possibilities. Compared to silicone, it is less expensive, also because a failed mold can be remelted at any time and used to make a new one. To do this, the failed mold is cut into small pieces with scissors, remelted and used again to cast a mold. A short time later, a perfect mold is ready. Recycling of this material is possible up to 6 times. The disadvantage, however, is that the mold can only be used once because it is neither heat nor water resistant. But this can also be changed: to make it reusable like a silicone mold, it is impregnated with Formaform Thermolan, which is also included in the package. It is then heat and water resistant and can be used several times (10-20 times). However, by impregnation it loses the property of fusibility. The mold made of Formaform is medium hard and has good mechanical strength values, which is why moldings made of all ceramic casting compounds, polyester and epoxy resins, wax, casting soap, plaster and cement, etc. can be cast in it.

During each melting process, a further quantity = approx. 20 % Formaform Liquid, must be added to the hot, molten impression material and carefully mixed in. This makes the impression material as liquid and flowable as before. Formaform Liquid causes the mold to regain its original elasticity.
