Product Information:

Polystyrene foam is the ideal material for all kinds of architectural models as it is easy to handle and can be individually shaped. A thermocut ensures fast and clean cutting, various files and sand paper allow creative contouring and shaping. When working with polystyrene foam, make sure to use solvent-free adhesives only, such as UHUpor or styrofoam™ glue. Waterbased white glue may be used, too. However, the foam has to be glued on an absorbent material like cardboard to ensure proper drying. Common varnishes or paints are often too aggressive and may dissolve the sensitive surface of the foam. Special styrofoam™ products such as the Ghiant or the Marabu series are safe to spray on directly. Alternatively, a styrofoam™ primer can be applied prior further treatment. It creates a protective film that allows the use of general paints and varnishes as well as protect the model from minor damage. Water-soluble acrylic paints, which can be found in our Art Supplies section, are the most efficient way of coloring the foam due to their high pigmentation and covering power. Our polystyrene foam is a multi-purpose material and can also be used for crafting, advertising, general model-making and much more.
